Jean Labonte (je-ahn... not Gene, as they said on TSN this morning) is one of our local guys - he lives in Quebec, works in Kanata, and has played with the National Team since before the Nagano Games in 1998. We are so excited that, for the second Paralympics in a row, a sledge hockey captain is carrying the flag into the opening ceremonies.
A funny Jean memory - when the kids and I went to pick everyone up at the bus station after Torino 2006, Jean had three guys from work show up to cheer him on, one with "LA" in red on his forehead, one with "BON", and the third with "TE"... this time we'll greet him with flags and cowbells!!! Congrats, Jean!!!
